Week 9-Business-Central African Republic-Karel Junior De Groote

Hey everyone,

This is Karel speaking from the business center of Africa. I didn’t knew that Africa had such a nice business center.  The people here are doing business on a very particular way. They are very familiar with each other this is not the way how we do business in Belgium. Because in Belgium everything is so strict to the rules.

We visited a lot of farms here in Africa because agriculture is the main business for most of the families here. We had some conversations with the farmers. They told us about their core business and how to revive in the difficult situation they are living in. They are dealing with a lot of sicknesses and they don’t earn much with selling their products abroad. So they are obligated to offer their products on the local market. The problem is that there is a lot of competition.

After visiting some farmers we went to the busy central of the African Republic.  If you compare the poor side against the busy side of Africa then you think you are on vacation in two different worlds. What I noticed here is that there doesn’t exist a real middle class. You are rich or you are poor. Starbucks is an organization that protects the local farmers in poor countries.

Anyway it’s sad to see the big difference in the worlds and I hope they can also evolve to a better life.

I have to leave you guys!

Greetings Karel
